(the gypsy caves where Famenco (flamingo dancing) was started in the hills of Granada)
we had a very touristy experience
but the music and dancing was incredible to hear & see in person
Our 9am Hike to La Alhambra
craving agua
La Alhambra is not only the most important, but also the best conserved Arabian palace of its epoch.
The name Alhambra means "the red one" and refers to the color of the mountain on which it is built.
Our tour guide, who spoke very poor english and was extremely hard to understand, constantly reminded us that Colorado also means "the color red" while he chuckled to himself.
The view from La Alhambra is incredibly gorgeous everywhere you look.
The palace was the most beautiful place I have ever been. Every inch of the building was intricately detailed with painted tiles, exotic fauna, and carvings of beautiful patterns in the wood and stone. It was designed with the hopes of creating a heaven on earth. They succeeded
even the floors were beautiful
I want to live in this garden and sleep in this bush
These photos don't even do it justice. La Alhambra should be on everyone's list of places to visit before you die. Just like a photo of the mountains can't capture its massive power, a photo of this place lacks the smells of jasmine and mountain air, the sounds of chirping birds, the feel of the warm summer sun on your back, and the overwhelming sense of heaven which permeates the air.
